Seminar leader(s) Catalyst Diploma in Psychodynamic Counselling (BPC approved Training)

The Catalyst Training branch is seeking candidates to join our training team, teaching on the Clinical Diploma in Psychodynamic Counselling course. Our trainers will be able to engage and inspire the trainees, and have a thorough working knowledge of the theories presented on the course.

Flexibility within the training team means that we are looking for applicants who would be interested and qualified to teach one of the following modules:

  • Human Development (year 1)
  • Clinical Concepts (year 1)
  • Technique and Practice (year 1)
  • Psychopathology (years 2/3)

The modules are presented, in stages, through years one to three of the course.

Trainees will have already completed the one-year Certificate in Psychodynamic Counselling Skills and Attitudes.

Training takes place on one weekend per calendar month – currently usually the third weekend, Saturdays/Sundays 10.00am – 3.30 pm depending on the module.

Teaching hours and timing (each seminar lasts 1 ½ hours) would depend on the module

The aim is that trainees will begin clinical supervision and work with clients at the beginning of year 2.

Remuneration: £45 per hour

Start date: Potentially, October 2024, depending on module

You will be required to:

  • Teach the module from a psychodynamic perspective
  • Support trainees in their learning and development as trainee counsellors
  • Teach using a range of classic and contemporary papers and research
  • Teach to include development of trainees’ skills and self-development
  • Assess and mark essays, presentations
  • In addition, assess through continuous monitoring of trainee participation in discussion
  • Link theory with trainee’ clinical practice as they move through the training
  • Contribute to the continuing development and updating of course content and programmes.
  • Attend assessment meetings once termly
  • Become an integrated member of the training team, sensitive to the ethos of a Social Enterprise.

Qualifications:

  • A recognised Qualification as psychoanalytic/psychodynamic psychotherapist or psychodynamic Counsellor
  • Minimum 5 years post qualification
  • Membership of the British Psychoanalytic Council, or Accredited status with the UK Council for Psychotherapy or British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy.
  • Demonstrable potential to engage in teaching/learning activities.

Some seminars may be delivered by online teaching methods. Experience in teaching via video would be beneficial.
